You can easily tell a scammer or a fraud because they all wear pants. But if you canât check their pants, watch out for these common scams when buying, selling, or trading NFTs.
If someone tells you to send them something first, theyâre a scammer. Theyâll probably take some time to gain your trust, and theyâll show you that their wallet has a bunch of valuable NFTs. You might think, âthis person seems trustworthy, plus theyâre a whale, I bet they wouldnât scam a little guy like me.â đ¤ŁâŚ The clown definitely wears pants.
Some scams are more involved. They might suggest sharing screens and that theyâll send first. They click send with gas set low, then you click send. Your txn will go through while theirs stalls, and they cancel theirs.
A more sophisticated version involves them clicking send first, and on their shared screen, it looks like the txn was confirmed. They might even show a fake OpenSea page showing that the transfer occurred and claim that it will take a little while to show up in your wallet. Now theyâve âsentâ you something and will pressure you to send yours immediately.
If you donât see the NFT in your wallet, theyâre a scammer. These scammers might be wearing some fancy pants, but they still wear âem and they arenât your friend.
