You can easily tell a scammer or a fraud because they all wear pants. But if you can’t check their pants, watch out for these common scams when buying, selling, or trading NFTs.

Drop your pants first, and I'll drop mine

If someone tells you to send them something first, they’re a scammer. They’ll probably take some time to gain your trust, and they’ll show you that their wallet has a bunch of valuable NFTs. You might think, “this person seems trustworthy, plus they’re a whale, I bet they wouldn’t scam a little guy like me.” 🤣… The clown definitely wears pants.

I’ll drop mine first, then you drop yours

Some scams are more involved. They might suggest sharing screens and that they’ll send first. They click send with gas set low, then you click send. Your txn will go through while theirs stalls, and they cancel theirs.

A more sophisticated version involves them clicking send first, and on their shared screen, it looks like the txn was confirmed. They might even show a fake OpenSea page showing that the transfer occurred and claim that it will take a little while to show up in your wallet. Now they’ve “sent” you something and will pressure you to send yours immediately.

If you don’t see the NFT in your wallet, they’re a scammer. These scammers might be wearing some fancy pants, but they still wear ‘em and they aren’t your friend.
